The market town of Sherborne, in north west Dorset, has a character all of its own and Sherborne School sits right in the heart of it. Whilst there is a reassuring sense of safety in the town, there are still great transport links with London, Bristol and beyond.
Sherborne School is steeped in history, emerging in its current guise in 1850. However, boys were educated amid the hallowed walls as long ago as the 12th century.
Sherborne provides a full-boarding education for 560 boys, that is fitting for the twenty-first century. Sherborne boys are kind, compassionate and caring. They look out for each other and their education lasts a lifetime. Our boys develop enthusiasm, habits and interests that stay with them long into the future, shaping their lives and giving them resources to call on in good times and bad.
Sherborne has a rich tradition of sporting and musical excellence with the boys achieving great things in a variety of sporting disciplines, from rugby to rifle shooting, golf to fives, polo to athletics. In the music sphere, three or more boys each year tend to proceed to university to read Music and then to conservatoires.
