TAKE THE CHALLENGE, BE AT YOUR BEST

Let’s Play Hockey

Coaching Programme

Let’s Play Hockey is a fun hockey camp for outfield players.

Every LPH camp is filled with plenty of skills, gameplay, challenges and competitions.

COACHING PROGRAMME

Our coaching programmes vary by age and ability, allowing every standard of player to get the most out of their Let’s Play Hockey experience.

We deliver fun and engaging activities focusing on honing basic skills and fostering game awareness. Our dynamic approach includes small-sided games, skills circuits, and exciting challenges, ensuring a well-rounded learning experience for every participant. We create an enjoyable and supportive environment where every child has the opportunity to thrive.

The camp progresses through technical development focus on day 1 & 2 through to matchplay focus on the final morning, finishing with the Activate Games Tournament on the final afternoon!

Sessions are delivered in age and ability groups, split in to 3 distinct groups, Little Sitcks, Midi Sticks and Big Sticks. Day 1 sessions give our coaches the opportunity to make sure everyone is in the right group, to get the best out of their time with us!

LITTLE STICKS

Our Little Sticks (6-7 year olds) camp is a fun learning environment where children understand the game of hockey through hockey, movement, hand-eye coordination and multi activity sessions.

We understand that children in this age group are not ready for heavy technical sessions, our aim is to create positive experiences that foster a lifelong love for hockey!

Our Little Sticks programme has child welfare at the centre of our delivery, our qualified staff have a wealth of experience working with the key stage 1 age group.

We understand that children learn best when sessions are short, varied, and with lots of movement. Children are introduced to throwing and catching games, with different sized soft balls, along with versatile targets.

MIDI STICKS

Our Midi Sticks (8-11 year olds) camp is a fun learning environment where children develop through games based sessions and coaching.

Competition is a huge part of the camp and all players will get the opportunity to take part in a wide variety of gameplay.

We understand that this age group can be challenged with more advanced skills and concepts than Little Sticks and will be introduced accordingly depending on age and ability.

BIG STICKS

Our Big Sticks (12-16 year olds) camp offers hockey mad youngsters the opportunity to play and practice with like-minded youngsters

The oldest age group are challenged further with advanced techniques and tactics as well as demanding game based sessions!

GAMEPLAY

LPH is centred around a games based approach to learning through play. Our excellent coaches create fun, engaging and development focused games to challenge youngsters to learn and develop their hockey ability through play.

Every day features plenty of gameplay but the whole of the final morning on camp is full of game scenarios and gameplay all delivered in their age groups, before an afternoon of the Activate Games Tournament.

EQUIPMENT

We have plenty of sticks for your child to borrow, if they don’t have their own. They are more than welcome to bring their own.

Every child MUST wear a gum shield and shin pads to be able to take part in the camp.

COACHES

Activate Camps have trained managers on every site who come from a variety of different backgrounds. We actively recruit school teachers, PGCE students, qualified sports coaches and childcare professionals to take our management roles. The professional staff we employ helps us exceed the high standard that are set and expected by Ofsted. All our staff are DBS checked and we will always have at least one first aid trained staff member on site at all time.

We recognize the importance of health and safety and child welfare. We are the only provider of our kind that has training developed in partnership with Cardinus Risk Management and approved by the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management.

We value our coaches competing experience very highly and employ several current top-level athletes as LPH coaches. Their experience adds great value and insight throughout the camp.
